Hello!

I have a question if anybody can answer it I would be greatful!

I have a big rifle from this gunsmith. Its converted from flintlock to percussion and it is missing the ramrod.

I tried to fit a ramrod to the rifle but beneath the lower ramrod-guide there is no hole in the stock. That means that the ramrod must have been very short, about 60 cm but the barrel is about 1 meter long. Why? Could it be so that the original ramrod would have been a telescopic or collapsible in some way? The length of the entire rifle is 145 cm and its a very heavy gun.

Are you sure that there is no hole? I think that there is a hole filled with a part of a broken off wooden ramrod.

Hello Corrado,

Yes, I even knocked out the retaining pins and removed the lower ramrod guide. Surely, there is no hole or signs of broken ramrod. To me it is a mystery. Have you ever seen any expandeble ramrod or similar?
