Sorry for not writing in German but I do understand everything when reading it.

The sword on the pictures I recently bought from a museum that needs to clear out some items due to lack of space.

It was donated a couple of years ago and was probably found in a old shipwreck in Ostsee. The hilt is in very good condition and is not worn/used much. (maybe the sword was new when it came down with the ship?)

Scabbard in wood/brass/leather is in a poor condition, but I assume that scabbards of this kind is rather rare. The blade is very badly corroded. What would the age be? I think it could be 1760-1780.

Are there any interest from collectors for such a thing in this condition?

Mit freundlichen gruss/Ulrik S, Schweden

Guten Tag Ulrik,
bei Ihrem Degen handelt es sich um einen Preussischen Kürassierdegen aus der Zeit Friedrichs II. (1740-1786).
Gruss
Frank

The model is M1732 (early version). A great piece even with that rusted blade.
