This saber is aparently Hessian, but I'm lacking information about Hessian weapon and don't know, is it general cavalry sword or a special pattern for the mounted gendarmes. Can you please comment on this?
Also, I'm not sure about the marks. Am I right that G.H. means "Gendarmerie Hesse" and G.H.E.r is "Gendarmerie Hesse Erzatz regiment"? I would expect reversed order for the letters, namely H.G. instead of G.H.
The blade is 85.5 cm long and approx. 31 mm broad at ricasso. The blade is marked on spine with year (69) and something what looks like Hessian lion.

Es handelt sich hierbei um einen 1869 gefertigten Großherzoglich Hessischen Säbel für höhere Unteroffiziersdienstgrade der Artillerie.
Der Truppenstempel am Säbel steht für die "Großherzoglich Hessische 1. 6(?) Pfünder-Batterie und die Waffen Nummer 5.
