(So: Otto Smith: Den Dansk-Norske Hærs Sidevaaben, København 1939)

Hello Mario ! Thank you freuen Yes, the tip of the blade is thypical for the Bosniaksaber.

Here is an link to Danish arms and armour society's web-page and an other Bosniakersaber M. 1776 - 1791:

http://www.vaabenhistoriskselskab.dk/arma-dania/_AD_blankvaben_view.php?editid1=68

From what I can understand the Danish Hussarsaber M. 1776 and the M. 1791 was inspiered by the Prussian Hussarsaber M. 1742.

I am interested in an Prussian Hussarsaber M. 1742 as I think it would display well toghter with the M. 1791 freuen Unfortunatly I have been bying a lot of Sabers, Pallasch's, Dussagge/Tessak and staff weapons over the last couple of months and will have to wait before I continue looking for an good Prussian Hussarsaber M. 1742.

The first contemporary drawing below is of an Danish Hussar, note the tip of his saber.

The second drawing is an Danish Bosniak

The third is Danish Hussar's drawn in 1767, note the brass hilted Hussarsaber's. This would be the Hussar saber M. 1761.

Sorry, Dragon,

I must insert the pictures, because the picture paths are not indicated, unfortunately.

Thank you Admin freuen I fully understand your question Mario, the tip of the blade on the M. 1791 looks a bit out of place.

Very fine and untouched Danish Hussar Sabre! One of the better ones I have seen.
I think Lime is writing about a different variation of the 1776 sabre. Otto Smith
in 1938 had limited examples available to him and is somewhat outdated today. The
conclusion is that not all Danish sabre's M/1776 are/was identical. This is also
what makes collecting interesting!
